We are delighted to be returning to St John's Church to sing two vibrant pieces of choral music, Karl Jenkins Requiem and Hummel Mass in B Flat. We'll be accompanied by a small, professional orchestra, Sinfonia Musicisti.
Karl Jenkins is the UK's most popular contemporary composer, one of Wales' most versatile and critically-acclaimed musicians. His Requiem, first performed in 2005, is a rich melting pot, blending European classical style with ethnic, world music using pulsing energy derived from his early jazz and rock experience.
Hummel’s Mass in B Flat received exceptionally positive reviews in the contemporary musical press. Making new demands on the strings and choir the work produces a range of musical effects, from simple pastoral scenes to complex fugues rarely encountered at the time.
